Do I need a visa to travel to Ghana?

Yes, all travelers need a tourist visa before arriving in Ghana. You must apply at the Ghanaian embassy or consulate in your country. Requirements include:

  • A valid passport (at least six months before expiration)

  • A yellow fever vaccination certificate

  • A completed visa application form

  • Passport-sized photos and proof of travel itinerary

Visa processing times vary, so apply at least 4–6 weeks in advance.

Are vaccinations or health precautions required?

  • Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into Ghana.

  • Malaria is present, so taking antimalarial medication is highly recommended.

  • Other suggested vaccines: Hepatitis A & B, typhoid, meningitis, and tetanus.

  • Bring personal medications and mosquito repellent.
